Individual Counseling

The counselor is available to meet one-on-one with students who are having a particular problem or need specific information.  The topics are almost limitless in the areas of academics, personal, social, and career.  Individual counseling is appropriate for more personal issues or for students who are not able to attend group sessions.  These sessions are always confidential which means the counselor will not share the information with anyone else.  There are exceptions to confidentiality when a parent or teacher needs to be informed.  These rare instances are discussed in advance with the student.  If the counselor feels the student is in need of more specialized services, referrals can be provided.

A student can refer themselves to counseling or a recommendation can be made by a teacher, parent, friend or administrator.  These are planned so as to have the smallest impact on time lost in the classroom.
